'Twilight' wins 5 MTV Movie Awards

UNIVERSAL CITY, Calif., June 1 (UPI) --

The vampire movie "Twilight" earned five golden popcorn prizes at the 2009 MTV Movie Awards ceremony in Universal City, Calif., Sunday night.

The blockbuster took the prizes for best movie, best kiss, best fight, breakthrough performance male for star Robert Pattinson and best female performance for his leading lady Kristen Stewart.

"High School Musical 3: Senior Year" earned Ashley Tisdale the golden popcorn for breakthrough performance female, while her co-star Zac Efron picked up the trophy for best male performance.

The late Heath Ledger won the award for best villain for his portrayal of the Joker in "The Dark Knight;" Jim Carrey picked up the prize for best comedic performance for his work in "Yes Man;" and Miley Cyrus earned her first golden popcorn statue for best song from a movie for "The Climb," which appeared in "Hannah Montana: The Movie."

Amy Poehler won the best "WTF moment" honor for a jaw-dropping scene in which her low-rent character urinates in a sink in "Baby Mama."

Other highlights of the show included Oscar-winning actor Forest Whitaker's performance of Justin Timberlake's comic track "Dick in a Box," and Eminem storming out of the event after a scantily clad Sacha Baron Cohen -- appearing as his outrageous alter-ego Bruno -- dangled from a wire and fell face-down into the rapper's lap.

Comedian Andy Samberg presided over the telecast, which aired on MTV from the Gibson Amphitheatre.
