MLB: Milwaukee 9, Florida 6

MIAMI, June 3 (UPI) --

Ryan Braun hit a two-run homer Wednesday and Milwaukee took advantage of nine walks to down Florida 9-6.

Braun's homer gave the Brewers a 3-0 lead in the third and Milwaukee scored six times in the fifth -- three of the runs coming on bases-loaded walks and another on a throwing error by Florida third baseman Emilio Bonifacio.

The Brewers halted a two-game skid and took a one-game lead over St. Louis in the National League Central.

Milwaukee starter Braden Looper did not allow a hit through three innings, but wound up allowing five runs over 4 2/3 innings and did not figure in the decision. The win went to Seth McClung (3-1), who allowed a run over 3 1/3 innings. Trevor Hoffman picked up his 14th save in as many chances this season.

Sean West (0-1) suffered his first major league loss in his third career start. He gave up five runs in 4 1/3.

Milwaukee sent 11 men to the plate in the fifth. Hayden Penn issued consecutive bases-loaded walks to Bill Hall, Jason Kendall and Looper before the Brewers scored again on Bonifacio's throwing error.

Casey McGehee doubled home the final two runs of the inning, giving Milwaukee a 9-1 lead.
