Half Of Digg Hotties Are Fake

Let's file this under "something you already guessed but now you have proof" category. Someone with a lot of time on their hands at ValleyWag has dissected entries of the "50 Hottest Girls on Digg" and found out much chicanery exists with such profiles.

Can anyone be surprised by this revelation? I doubt it. Of course internet marketers (who dominate Digg) know that pictures of "hot chicks" always result in more clicks that comparable pics of guys or plain Janes.

Since no one is actually checking out your registration info at Digg, you can pretty much put whatever you want. In fact, there is no rule that says you have to use your real picture.

As long as hot girls continue to be so popular (and there's no reason to think this trend will change any time soon), many Avatars will continue to portray hotties. This is true even if the actual submitter is an obese 54 year old internet marketer. That's just the way of the internet.
