HARTFORD, Conn., June 23 (UPI) --
An Internet radio host and blogger acknowledged advocating violence against two Connecticut lawmakers and a state official, police say.
A warrant for the arrest of conservative talk show host Harold "Hal" Turner, 47, of North Bergen, N.J., submitted by Connecticut State Capitol Police Officer Timothy Boyle indicated Turner admitted to him that he was responsible for writing on his blog Catholics should "take up arms" against the three officials, The Hartford Courant reported.
The warrant was introduced as evidence Monday at an arraignment hearing for Turner in Hartford, the newspaper said Tuesday.
Boyle said Turner acknowledged he had written a blog post about a legislative proposal introduced by state Rep. Michael Lawlor and Sen. Andrew McDonald that would have changed the way the Roman Catholic Church is governed. In the post, he urged readers to "take up arms and put down this tyranny by force" against the state lawmakers as well as Thomas Jones, an employee in the state ethics office.
Boyle said when he asked about his post, Turner allegedly said, "Certainly we hope that nobody's going to go off the deep end and do something terrible, but … you never can tell."
