Pickleball Mania

Pickleball mania sweeps the nation

People in the U.S. are tired of high gas prices and job loss, but one thing they never tire of us is 'Pickleball'. Of course, Pickelball is not without its' share of critics who claim the game is just a bastardization of superior sports. Nonetheless, the game is very popular with senior citizens.

It's not only older folks who play, however. As evidenced by this video, Pickleball is embraced by youths in Mumbai.

Dick Walker explained the origin of the game recently.

"A U.S. Congressman in Washington invented it as a game for his kids," Walker said. "They had a dog named 'Pickle' who would always run in and try to steal the ball, so that's how they arrived at the idea of 'pickleball.' At first, they tried using different balls, and lowering or raising the net, until it eventually evolved into the game it is now."

I admit I've never played the wacky sport, but it does look sort of fun.
