PARIS (AFP) --
France on Friday rejected a report by the European Union's food safety watchdog that declared a genetically modified strain of maize, banned in six EU countries, to be safe for health and the environment.
In a joint statement, the French ecology and agriculture ministries said the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) had failed to take into account requests from dissenting countries on how the risk should be evaluated.
