Minor League Brawl - Dayton Dragons And Peoria Chiefs - Video
Dayton Dragons vs. Peoria Chiefs brawl.
A minor league baseball game between the Dayton Dragons and the Peoria Chiefs turned to mayhem in the first inning last night.
It all began when the Dragons manager Donnie Scott and acting Peoria manager Carmelo Martinez got into an argument. Julio Castillo, pitcher for the Chiefs, threw a fastball towards the Dragon's dugout, missed the target and hit a fan in the stands.
The fan required hospital treatment for his injuries.
The fight lasted about 10 minutes and had to be broken up by several Dayton police officers.
Onlookers were shocked at the fight. One fan said, "This is the most insane baseball game I've ever been to. It was complete chaos." The game was delayed for over an hour following the melee.
Gary Mayse, General Manager of the Dragon's stated, "Tonight's on-field incident between the field staffs of the Dayton Dragons and Peoria Chiefs was unfortunate and we sincerely wish that it would have not happened. We are confident that the footage of tonight's incident will be reviewed by Midwest League President George Spelius and appropriate actions will be taken."
Julio Castilla was arrested and charged with felonious assault. He's expected in court today. The injured fan was treated at a local hospital but was expected to be okay.
Once order was restored, the Dragons went on to beat the Chiefs 6-5.
