Virginia's Arlington National Cemetery was treated to a manicure by more than 400 professional lawn care workers from throughout the nation, officials said.

Volunteering their time, the lawn care pros Monday installed irrigation systems and spread lime over 300 acres as part of their annual "Renewal and Remembrance" Day at Arlington, where veterans from every U.S. war are buried.

The project was started more than a decade ago by an Ohio landscaping and lawn care group that wanted to give a day of service at Arlington, Bill Hildebolt, a spokesman for the Professional Landcare Network association said.

Monday's volunteers represented 95 companies from throughout the country, CNN reported.

"It's a privilege," Hildebolt said. "It's a very humbling experience that I'm very proud of."
