HOUSTON, July 14 (UPI) --
Houston police say they have not been able to identify the naked gunman they shot to death early Tuesday after he drove through the gate of a police substation.
The suspect allegedly hit several cars at the station and fired at least one shot before six officers opened fire, police told the Houston Chronicle.
No one else was injured in the pre-dawn confrontation that began when man driving a Mitsubishi sedan was spotted driving erratically and waving a gun out of the window on a highway interchange.
A short time later, the same car crashed through a parking lot gate at the Northeast Patrol Station and banged into several vehicles. The unclothed suspect then allegedly jumped from the vehicle brandishing a handgun. Police say he fired at least once before being dropped by a barrage of gunfire.
The motive for the rampage was unknown and toxicology tests were pending as of midday Tuesday.
