Marijuana Mistaken For Begonias

A Dutch man didn't realize the beautiful plants he was growing were actually marijuana. The 73 year old thought they were just more begonias in his garden. Police let him know the bad news.

"Police officers suddenly noticed marijuana plants sprouting from his begonias," said the police.

The retired man said he thought the plants were probably put there by local kids.

The Netherlands, which has long been considered a bastion of sane drug policy, has been getting much more tough on marijuana lately. The accidental marijuana gardener in this story was caught due to a massive nationwide effort to eradicate marijuana crops.

Marijuana is still sold to tourists and locals in coffee shops due to the countries policy of turning a blind eye, even though the substance is still considered illegal. This policy has been in force since 1976.
