Netflix - Affordable Entertainment In Trying Times
further.
Entertainment is often the first thing to suffer when families or individuals need to cut their spending.
Nothing seems to be cheap anymore, a trip to the movie theater for a family of four could easily cost $40-$50.00 with tickets and concessions. Even renting movies at Blockbuster could cost a quick $20, not including the gas to get there.
With Netflix, things are a lot different. Their DVD rental system allows you to sign up for movie 'rental' based on your specific needs and budget.
Monthly rates vary from $4.99 for 2 movies per month. Heavier users can have up to 8 movies (at any given time) for a $47.99 monthly fee.
There are a number of membership levels in between, so there's an option to fit just about everyone that has internet access.
Since the films are delivered via regular postal mail, you just have to go to your mailbox - no driving or late fees ever.
All of their membership plans (except the 2 movies per month) give subscribers unlimited access to Netflix's "instant watch" library which
features thousands of films, TV series and documentaries that can be viewed on your computer (or routed with an S-Video cable to your
television) in the event that you're without movies. If you want to skip all the cables and hookups for streaming movies, Netflix also
offers a their Roku player for around $100.00 without shipping. The Roku player is a small box that retrieves your "instant
queue" with the press of a remote control button. With the Roku and it's accompanying remote control you can play movies, pause movies,
and delete them from your instant queue after your done watching them. If you decide to pause a film and come back to it later, Roku
picks up where you left off. Sort of a nice feature, really.
Netflix has an extensive line of offerings, subscribers can enjoy a number of titles they wouldn't typically find at their local rental shop.
Heck, even the TV series Heroes now offers their Season 3 episodes on "instant play" on Tuesday, the day after it airs on primetime... without commercials.
So if you're looking to cut back on expenses and stay entertained at home, check out Netflix. You'll be happy that you did.
