Palin ethics complaint dismissed

JUNEAU, Alaska, July 16 (UPI) --

An ethics complaint claiming Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin wasted taxpayers' time with media interviews was dismissed within days of being filed, her office says.

In a statement released Wednesday, Palin's office said the complaint filed July 6 was thrown out partly on technical grounds. It was not properly notarized, the Anchorage Daily News reported.

The complaint alleged Palin did paid interviews, some of them on government time.

Palin's office said she had not been paid for interviews.

The Personnel Board also said it had previously found Palin's interviews do not violate the state Ethics Act and that the complainant presented no evidence she had been paid for interviews.

When she announced July 3 she would leave office at the end of the month, Palin cited as one reason the series of ethics complaints filed against her, which she claimed cost Alaska "millions of dollars."
