Obama will attend summit in Mexico

WASHINGTON, July 17 (UPI) --

The swine flu will be on the agenda of a North American Leaders Summit in August, presidential press secretary Robert Gibbs announced from Washington Friday.

President Barack Obama will join Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Mexican President Felipe Calderon in Guadalajara, Mexico, on Aug. 9 and 10.

A number of issues will be discussed, Gibbs said, including economic recovery and competitiveness among the three North American countries, their shared interested in energy and the environment and their cooperation in promoting the safety and welfare of their citizens.

Included in this cooperation is work to counter the A/H1N1 influenza pandemic, Gibbs said.
