A spokeswoman for Pepsi-Cola North America says she doesn't know how footage of Michael Jackson being burned during a commercial shoot was made public.

Usmagazine.com posted on its Web site this week previously unreleased video showing the late singer's hair catching fire in a pyrotechnic accident during a 1984 Pepsi commercial shoot at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

"We don't know how the footage became available," the BBC quoted Nicole Bradley of Pepsi-Cola North America as saying in a statement. "This was an unfortunate accident that occurred more than 25 years ago. ... It was a terrifying event that we'll never forget. ... We were grateful for Michael's recovery and for the chance to continue working with him on a number of successful projects."

Bradley said Pepsi was "deeply saddened" by Jackson's death last month at age 50.

At the time he died, the pop icon had been rehearsing for a scheduled series of comeback concerts at London's O2 arena, which were due to begin this week.
