OAKLAND, Calif., July 18 (UPI) --
Rajai Davis gave Oakland the lead by scoring from first on a botched pickoff attempt Friday, sending the Athletics to a 7-3 win over the Los Angeles Angels.
The Angels had a four-game winning streak halted and missed out on a chance to increase their two-game lead over Texas in the American League West.
Bobby Crosby hit a three-run homer to give Oakland a 3-1 lead in the fourth but the Angels came back to tie it in the fifth.
With the score knotted at 3-3 in the sixth, Davis drew a four-pitch walk off starter Joe Saunders (8-6). Saunders then threw wildly trying to pick Davis off and the runner dashed all the way home for the go-ahead run.
Kurt Suzuki tacked on a sacrifice fly RBI in the seventh and Orlando Cabrera doubled home two runs in the eighth to pad the Oakland lead.
Craig Breslow (2-4) recorded the final out in the sixth and the first out in the seventh to get the win. Four Oakland relievers combined to limit the Angels to two hits over the final 4 2/3 innings.
