China Says U.S. And McCain Should Not Support Dalai Llama

China is none too happy about how the U.S. supports the Dalai Llama. The comments by Chinese spokesman Liu Jianchao came after the country learned that John McCain supposedly met with the Dalai Llama on Friday.

"China is seriously concerned about the report," said Jianchao.

"We oppose the Dalai engaging in splittist activities inany country in any capacity, and oppose anyone using the Dalai issue to interfere in Chinese internal affairs. This position is consistent and clear," he added.

After McCain's meeting on Friday, he urged the Chinese government to address ongoing human rights concerns.

The Chinese government has met with the Dalai Llama on several occasions this year, but no agreement of any sort has been worked out. They claim he supports violence and is hell-bent on ruining the 2008 Olympics.
