New polls show that John McCain and Barack Obama have pulled even in their race for the White House in Midwest states. The news is not entirely surprising considering that Obama spent last week out of the country while McCain visited Midwest states.
A new poll from Quinnipiac University found McCain gaining on Obama in the key states of Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin and pulling narrowly ahead in Colorado.

Polling expert Peter Brown said that the change in positions is natural at this stage of the campaign.
"The race is tightening," said Brown. "McCain's doing a little better because Obama's post-primary bounce is wearing off."
Overall, Obama has seen his lead against McCain improve to 5 points.
"It made him look more presidential," said political scientist R. Michael Alvarez. "Behind all this is the development of a personal story that he's developing foreign policy experience. It is part of his resume he needs to backfill."
