West Hollywood House of Blues under fire

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 7 (UPI) --

The West Hollywood House of Blues in California could lose its business license if it doesn't curb the violence that occur there, city officials said.

The West Hollywood City Council met Monday to discuss the recent spate of disturbances that have taken place at the famed nightclub, the Los Angeles Times reported.

Councilman John Heilman presented a report on the matter, claiming the club hasn't improved security following numerous brawls there and continues to host events and promote the venue to groups which disrespect the community and the business.

The Times quoted Heilman as saying in his report that, within the last year, there have been 44 arrests and more than 100 sheriff's radio dispatches to the venue.

Unfortunately, for the last several years, the House of Blues has had a history of serious problems and an unwillingness to address these problems, the report said. After each serious incident, there is a perfunctory apology and a promise to reform, but the problems persist and have escalated.

The Times said the club could lose or have its license suspended if it doesn't clean up its act.

An employee at the hot spot said the club's spokeswoman could not be reached.
