There's a great deal of hype about the new Cuil.com Search Engine. Cuil, pronounced "Cool" (yeah right) is a darling because it was founded by former Google employees. However, even a brief bit of time spent at the clunky new website indicates this company has a long, long, long, long, long way to go before they catch up to Google.
In order to beat Google, your search engine has to find things. Google is really good at finding things. Most web users, like myself, are used to using Google literally hundreds of times weekly, and in most cases find satisfactory answers to our queries.
Okay, I'll prove my point. Here's a screen capture of a common search term I entered, and the response from Cuil.

Sorry, Cuil and Andre! Not exactly what I had in mind. You can check multiple search terms and find the same type of dismal SERPs. Hey Cuil, 1998 just called and they want their search engine algo back!
Now I'm sure Cuil has potential considering its' backing and the personnel working at the company, but clearly the engine just isn't ready for prime-time right now. If they can make serious advances, it might actually be a competitor for 3rd place Live. But as things stand, there's just no way.
There's a sound emanating from Mountain Valley, California and it's gaining in intensity. It's the sound of laughter.
