Extreme Makeover Home In Foreclosure

The mini mansion that was a dream come true for the Harper family has become another tale of foreclosure three years later.

The four bedroom, two story home that was featured on ABC's TV show Extreme Makeover , replaced the Harper's aging home that had a faulty septic system in 2005. It was the largest project that Extreme Makeover was involved with.

Over 1,800 volunteers showed up to help demolish the Harper's previous home.

The Harper family reportedly used the house as collateral for a $450,000 loan to finance a construction business that failed.

The home is slated for auction on August 5 at the Clayton County Courthouse in Georgia.

The mini mansion featured decorative rock walls, a three car garage, a lobby that had four fireplaces, a solarium, an office and a music room.

Materials and labor were donated to build the home. ABC issued a statement saying they advise families involved with Extreme Makeover to consult with a financial planner after they get their new homes. They stated, "Ultimately, financial matters are personal, and we work to respect the privacy of the families."

Employees and partners from Beazer Homes helped raise $250,000 to go towards the homes maintenance and college scholarships for the Harper children.

Many of the volunteers that made the dream home a reality are none too pleased with the foreclosure announcement. A lot of work (and workmanship) went into completing the posh home for Darius, Lavaughn, Milton, Mister and Patricia Harper. Lake City Mayor Willie Oswalt said, "It's aggravating. It just makes you mad. You do that much work, and they just squander it." Oswalt helped mount a large beam in the living room of the home.
