NEW YORK, Oct. 9 (UPI) --
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced the recall of uncoded, 7-ounce plastic bags of "Shad Raisins" in New York City due to undeclared sulfites.
New York State officials said the raisins distributed by Fatima Brothers Inc. of New York posed a potential health issue for people allergic to sulfites.
Officials said the consumption of 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some asthmatics, with anaphylactic shock a possibility.
