Extreme Makeover Home Saved From Foreclosure

The dream home built by the TV show "Extreme Makeover:Home Edition" and Beazer Homes for the Harper family of Georgia has been saved from foreclosure. Patricia Harper told reporters that she and her husband have worked out an agreement with Chase Home Financial to keep their massive home that was built by the generosity of others.

The Harpers took out a second mortgage 15 months ago to finance a construction business that failed. The home was set to go to auction on August 5, 2008. The home features four bedrooms, a solarium, an office and a common room with four fireplaces.

Beazer Homes also helped raise cash for the family to cover expenses such as maintenance and taxes.

Lake City Mayor Willie Oswalt said he was confused by the family's financial crisis. He said, "Beazer gave them $100,000 cash, paid their mortgage off and they still can't make it." Oswalt was one of the volunteers that worked on the home during its' construction.
