New Moon - Taylor Lautner Loves Sports
Before Taylor Lautner became famous for playing the role of Jacob Black in Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series, the 17 year old aspiring actor was known amongst his peers as being a sports fanatic and a team player.
Lautner went to incredible lengths to 'beef up' for New Moon, the second installation in the Twilight saga to try and win over the
heart of Bella Swan, played by Kristin Stewart, so it comes as no surprise that this athletic young man has a love for sports.
Prior to becoming a breakout star, Lautner enjoyed participating in baseball, football and karate regularly. He told J-14, "I want to hang
on to football as long as I can." Taylor admitted, "I gave up baseball and now football is all I can do because of time. The things that I call fun,
I want to hang onto as long as I can."
Taylor also knows that reality dictates how long he'll be able to juggle his acting career with his love for high school sports. "I know when my schedule gets too busy I will have to give up football."
New Moon hits theaters on November 20, 2009 and also stars Robert Pattinson as Edward Cullen, Kristen Stewart as Bella Swan and Kellan Lutz as Emmett Cullen.
Eclipse, the third installation of the Twilight saga is expected to begin filming in Vancouver, British Columbia, later this month. That movie is slated for a June 2010 release date.
If given a choice, would you prefer to see Taylor Lautner on the big screen or on the playing field?
