Charles Durning Gets Lifetime Achievement Award
Congratulations to Charles Durning, who was given a “Lifetime Achievement Award” at last night’s SAG (Screen Actor’s Guild) Award show.

Charles has starred in over 150 film and TV roles through the course of his lifetime. He has played Denis Leary’s father in the past three seasons on “Rescue Me.” He has 4 films slated for 2008 – so he keeps pretty busy for an 85 year old man.
Of his new award, he said:
“There’s nothing more gratifying than having an achievement award from one’s peers,” he said. “It’s impossible to thank all of the people who have so gratefully wanted me to do what they wanted me to do.”
Durning is also a WWII veteran, being one of the first serviceman to land on Omaha Beach on D-Day (June 6) 1944. He’s been nominated for eight Oscar’s throughout his career.
