Buckingham Group to construct River Island Distribution Centre, Magna Park, Milton Keynes
The GBP11M project involves the design and build of a new build development comprising two interconnecting warehouses accessed by 47 loading bays with dock levellers and 6 level accesses. One of the warehouses will accommodate the internal structure for a two-storey transport office and three-storey, high quality office accommodation. All buildings are to be constructed with a BREEAM rating of Excellent.
The units will be complete with fire escape staircases and external plant buildings. Extensive external works, including parking for 149 lorries and 490 cars, will be undertaken with extensive hard and soft landscaping. The works include the formation of a building plateau and the distribution of mains services and drainage.
This contract win further demonstrates the position of Buckingham Group Contracting within the regional distribution and retail sector and is due for completion in May 2010.
